Wolrd War ii

Leaders of wwii

The main leaders of World War II were Benito Mussolini of Italy, Adolf Hitler of Germany, and Emperor Hirohito of Japan for the Axis Powers. The leaders of the Allied Powers were Franklin D. Roosevelt of the United States, Winston Churchill of Great Britain, and Joseph Stalin of the Soviet Union.

Allied powers vs. axis powers

The Allied Powers, other than Russia, were all democratic while the Axis Powers ranged from totalitarianism(Hitler) to fascism(Mussolini). The Axis Powers used dominance, fear, and propaganda to gain and keep control; and the Allied Powers used diplomacy, cunningness, and enforcement of the law. The Allied Powers also supported each other more while the Axis were more reluctant too.

Munich Conference

The Munich Conference was an agreement between Great Britain and Germany that would allow Germany to extend it's reach into parts of Czechoslovakia.

Hitler's Takeover

Hitler's first conquest was Austria on March 12, 1938. Afterwards he took part of Czechoslovakia until Britain stepped in with the Mucich Conference. This allowed him to take the rest of Czechoslovakia but nothing else. Despite this he continued on and invaded Poland.

America's Response

For a while America was not directly involved in the war, they sent supplies for Great Britain to use to help them fight the war. It wasn't until December 7th, 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, taking out nearly the entire Pacific Fleet.
